Michael Owen shares his first-hand experience with fellow youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold. Who could potentially join Los Blancos in the football future.

Former England striker Michael Owen has warned Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold amid links with Real Madrid. With the player’s contract expiring in the summer of 2025, The Telegraph reported on Wednesday.UFABET

Owen made his name at Liverpool after rising through the club’s academy, like Trent. Before moving to Real Madrid in the summer of 2004. But failed to impress and returned to England before signing for Newcastle after just one season at the Bernabeu. Where he passed on his experience to the younger players.

Owen has said:

‘Trent’s situation is interesting. Trent has done everything for Liverpool. He loves Liverpool. If he leaves, no one can blame him for wanting to experience something different in his life and his career.’

‘When the opportunity came, I felt I had to give it a try. Growing up, if you ask most people. Which club is the biggest in the world. Real Madrid is the ultimate goal for a footballer.’

‘I never really had any ambitions to go abroad. But I fit the role they’re looking for. If you’re a goalscorer. A creative midfielder or a fantastic, unique type of right-back like Trent, you’re seen as a major signing.

‘They wanted me to stay with (Luis) Figo, (Zinedine) Zidane, Ronaldo (Nazario) and Roberto Carlos. I looked at it and thought it would be more difficult not to score. I thought for a long time whether to leave Liverpool or not. But in the end something in me told me I would regret it if I didn’t try. ‘

‘As soon as I made the decision to go to Real Madrid. I lost control of my career and what people thought of it,’ Owen has said of his experience of making the move to Los Blancos 20 years ago.
